HE IS BACK. Two-time NBA champion Lamar Odom will gear up for greatness representing the Philippines under Mighty Sports in the upcoming Dubai International Basketball Tournament this coming February 2019.
The former Los Angeles Lakers star forward announced in his personal Instagram account today at 5:00 AM (Philippine Time, +8 GMT) his involvement to the Philippine team while wearing the red, blue and white Mighty Sports jersey.
The 39-year-old Odom had a remarkable career in the NBA from 1999 to 2014. His most memorable stint was with the Los Angeles Lakers where he was a crucial piece to the back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010 alongside Kobe Bryant.
He shared that the Dubai stint would be a good warm up for his intention to catch on in the next season of the Big 3 tournament.
“I was hoping to be ready for the Chinese CBA earlier this year but I didn’t feel that I was physically were I wanted to be,” Odom said in his Instagram post.
Odom expressed his gratitude to sports agent Sheryl Reyes and Mighty Sports coach Charles Tiu for the opportunity to return to professional basketball and helping him to move forward.
“We welcome Mr. Lamar Odom to the Mighty Sports family. It is a great honor to have such a great player representing the Philippines in the 30th Dubai Invitationals. My thanks to our coach Charles Tiu and Ms. Sheryl Reyes for making this opportunity possible!” Mighty Sports owner Caesar Wongchuking said.
