FOR THE COUNTRY. Our homegrown differently-abled athletes got a modest boost from a local athletic apparel manufacturer just in time for its medal bid in the upcoming 2018 Asian Para Games in Pelambang, Indonesia.
The Caesar Wongchuking led Mighty Sports Apparels and Accessories, Inc. donated cash amounting to Php150,000 to the Philippine Paralympic Committee (PPC), formerly Philippine Sports Association for the Differently Abled (PHILSPADA).
The cash donation came from Mighty Sports’ championship winnings in the 2018 Republika Cup held in Bulacan last April.
A simple turnover ceremony was held at the PPC headquarters in Pasig led by its executive director Mr. Dennis Esta and Filipino para-athletes Edwin Villanueva, Roland Sabido and Rufo Tablang.
Local athletic apparel manufacturer Mighty Sports was represented by Caesar Angelo Wongchuking, Dr. Edwin John L. Sy and Gen. Melito Mabilin (ret.).
“This donation will be a big help for our para-athletes in their upcoming participation in Indonesia,” Mr. Esta said.
The 2018 Asian Para Games (or 3rd Asian Para Games) is a parallel multi-sport event with the 2018 Asian Games.
PPC was originally established in 1997 as a brainchild of its president Michael I. Barredo. It is an internationally-recognized Filipino sports body tasked in spearheading the sports development of Filipino persons with disabilities.
